Just came across this fascinating timeline that perfectly captures the rapid evolution of AI over the past 5+ years.
It's remarkable to see how far we've come since GPT-2 and BERT emerged in 2019!
What strikes me most is the clear progression:
- First came the foundation models (GPT series, Claude, PaLM)
- Then AI Agent frameworks to orchestrate these models (LangChain, AutoGPT)
- Followed by standardised protocols for agent communication (ANP, AITP)
- Now evolving into full enterprise platforms and agent networks
The acceleration is undeniable.
What took years in the early days now happens in quarters. And looking at the 2025+ column, it's clear we're heading toward more sophisticated agent collaboration frameworks and communication standards.
What will the AI landscape look like by 2026?
